SMS Backup & Restore is an app that backs up (creates a copy of) SMS & MMS messages and call logs currently available on the phone. It can also restore call logs and messages from previous backups. Note: This app requires existing backups to be able to restore call logs and messages. It cannot recover anything without existing backups.

– Backup SMS (text) messages, MMS and call logs in XML format.
– A local device backup with the option to upload automatically to OneDrive, Google Drive, and Dropbox. – Select a time that will automatically backup on a regular basis. – The ability to choose which conversations to backup or restore. – Examine your local and cloud backups in depth. – Search backups.
– Restore/transfer backup to another phone. Backup format is independent of the Android version so the messages and logs can be easily transferred from one phone to another, irrespective of the version.
– Direct WiFi transfer speeds between two phones – Free up space on your phone. On the phone, delete all SMS messages and call logs. Send a backup file by email. – The online viewer can be used to view the XML backup on a computer at https://SyncTech.com.au/view-backup/.
Notes:
– Tested on Android versions above 5.0 – The app only restores backups it created. – Backup is created locally on the phone by default, but has options to upload to Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or Email. The developer never receives the files. Before performing a factory reset on the phone, please make sure there is a backup copy outside of it. This App needs access to the following:
* Your messages: Backup and Restore messages. Receive SMS permissions that are required to properly handle messages that are received while the app is the default messaging app. * Your Calls and Contact information: Backup and Restore Call Logs.
* Storage: The SD card will be used to create the Backup file. * Network view and communication: Allows the app to connect to wifi for backup
* Your social information: To display and store the contact names in the Backup file.
* Start scheduled backups when the computer starts up. * Prevent Phone from Sleeping: During a Backup or Restore operation, prevent the phone from going into a sleep or suspended state. * Test access to Protected Storage for the purpose of creating the SD card Backup file. * Account Information: To authenticate with Google Drive and Gmail for cloud uploads.
* Location: Only requested and utilized during WiFi direct transfer because of an Android security requirement.
